Dr. Brandon K. Eberl, PhD
SCIENTIST, ENGINEER, AND ASPIRING PERFUSIONIST
Dr. Brandon Eberl is currently a PhD researcher in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Brandon’s dissertation work focusses on utilizing benchtop analysis techniques to investigate the underlying mechanisms that modulate the surface zeta potential, a key biophysical parameter responsible for cell aggregation in red blood cells (RBCs). Brandon is interested in translating these in vitro findings to further demonstrate the efficacy of zeta potential as a “biosensor” for monitoring RBC function and cell aggregation in cardiopulmonary bypass and ECMO circuits.
Brandon’s long-term career career dreams are to combine research, the potential for medical device design and collaboration, and his foremost desire to work in a cardiac critical care clinical setting as a cardiovascular perfusionist.
